Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage~ Anais Nin
Planning a wedding is really pretty exciting. Lately though, I’ve been thinking that it can also be a little constraining, too. There are a ton of conventional traditions: the white dress, the ceremony, the reception, vows that seemingly must be followed. And, superstitions too like not seeing your intended before the ceremony. When you’re a bride who has her own way of doing things those social rules can feel like a white strait jacket.
That’s why I love this quote. A Cuban-French author known for her erotica, Nin is absolutely right about courage. The more you have, the bigger you life gets. And, I’m betting the corollary is also true. The more courage you have, the happier your life will be. Because, really, what most people regret are the things they didn’t do, don’t you think?
So, if you want to your guy to wear a kilt, go for it. If you want to host a bowling reception, why not. It’s your life. It’s your wedding. Be courageous. Live it big!
