Friday Finds: Finally, Wedlock Magazine

Your wedding business journal!

Your wedding business journal!

The wedding business is fun.  And, it’s especially fun to recognize a kindred spirit. That’s what I thought when I first met Jayne Hallock, Editor in Chief of Wedlock magazine, the first Wedding Marketing Journal.

Even though we haven’t spoken on the phone yet or met in person, I can tell that Jayne is my kind of gal. Her e-mails are full of personality and a genuine enthusiasm and optimism about what she has to offer the wedding community.

You know me, hope is my middle name. I love the fact that Jayne, Jason Hennessey and Chris Watson (the other two founders) are visionaries like me. They have a vision for what the wedding industry can achieve.  There is a better way to attract ideal brides.  I felt the same way when I launched PositivelyWed- there is a happier, more satisfying way to run a wedding business and I’m happy to share how.  So, really I consider them fellow wedding educators and we’re all working towards the greater good.

All about Wedlock Magazine

Just this week I got my own copy of Wedlock.     The magazine  just launched and the design style is evolving, however, I found it to be an incredibly rich resource, particularly for those wedding professionals who want to take advantage of social media and online marketing.  That should be you, by the way.   These days even if you only want to compete in your local market, even if you were doing fine without it,  you have to be using some of the social media magic.  Really, or get left behind. What’s great about the first issue is that it’s devoted to using online marketing tactics like  SEO and  building web traffic.  Stuff that takes some time to grasp yet is vital to growing a biz.

Don’t know a back link from a back hoe?  No worries, there’s a glossary for you that explains the basic and not so basic vocabulary.   Even better, when you become a subscriber (and you should)  you get as a gift the Bridal Traffic DVD Set with over 5 hours of tactics you can take tomorrow to grow your wedding business.  Click here and listen to Jason Hennessey, one of the founders, debut the magazine on YouTube (coincidentally, there’s an article on how wedding folks can use YouTube in the May issue) And, don’t forget to visit the website.

The site has such great energy and suggestions, just like Jayne.  Just browsing it you’ll get a wealth of  relevant, easy to use information.  For example,  the site is now featuring top ten tips on how to raise your visibility and credibility online.  There are also monthly webinars with noted experts on a variety of topics that will help you run a more successful, profitable wedding business (yours truly will be doing a webinar this summer!)  I’m looking forward to working with other experts and sponsors like Richard Markel of AFWPI and Wedspace (PositivelyWed has it’s own group there; come over and say hi!)

Just out of curiosity, what would you like my Wedlock webinar to be about?

Dina, you are so wonderfully supportive – both of wedding professionals AND us! Thank you so much and we really look forward to a long relationship of educating and helping wedding vendors…together!

PS – Don’t forget our fourth partner, David Hallock. He’s the quietest of the bunch but we’re always stunned by his gorgeous web design and magazine layout. :)
