Oh gosh. I cannot believe that it’s almost 6 p.m. and I haven’t posted yet. I pride myself on being a consistent blogger who delivers quality content. Or, at least that’s what I tell myself. But today I’ve been completely absorbed in the final prep for next week’s Brideability Summit, Grow Your Wedding Biz with Encore Brides. I ‘m fretting because it’s a bit ambitious.
This topic is pretty close to my heart because I’m an Encore Bride. This is my second marriage and I have some very definite opinions on serving what I call ‘the hidden’ market. So does my guest, Paula, the editor of Remarriage Magazine.
I mean, just because a woman is over 40 doesn’t mean she won’t get married. It’s not only possibly but very likely, according to recent statistics. The fact that more professionals aren’t targeting this niche is crazy. Oh, there I go..on a rant. You can catch the rest on Wednesday’s call. Hurry, it’s one of the very last free calls, and the 50 seats are almost gone.
That leads me to talk about about today’s Friday Find- Meetcha.com
I’ve got a confession. I met my husband..sigh, online. On AOL if you can imagine. There used to be a huge stigma against online dating. I remember my mother sending me newspaper clippings about all kinds of assaults. In fact, it was 2 years before we told our families how we actually met, and some folks still don’t know. (uh, sorry, honey).
Now, it’s all the rage. I see those eHarmony commercials and sigh. Why wasn’t there a cool, relaxed site when I was online dating. Now, there is!
Meetcha.com, ‘the place to find love over 40′, aims to be an online dating site of a different breed. The site is oriented around activities and interests, rather than 149 emotional characteristics. You have a choice of one-to-one dating or doing group activities. Great if you’re just getting back into the swing of dating. Check it out.
I could be a little bias, though. Meetcha is the brainchild of Jeff Taylor of EONS.com. I was part of the EONS Media Network when I blogged about boomer marriage at ThisMarriageThing.com (down now). I’ve been invited to guest-blog so look for my stories about online dating and encore weddings in coming weeks.
PS We’ll be talking about how to use resources like Meetcha.com and Eons.com to market on the call.
