Hey y’all today we’re off to Tybee Island and the surrounding areas for a little house shopping with Sandy McCloud, super realtor and member of the singing sensation, the Girlfriends. But I still have a find for you, especially if you’re an emerging wedding professional.
Mentoring is Essential
I vividly recall how disappointed I was when I realized that after three years of law school I didn’t actually know how to be a lawyer. Yeah, I’d read the books-tons of books- but I needed more practical experience and an able guide. Same thing is true for wedding planning, I think.
Once you finish your educational course, you still need a bit of hand-holding before you can say to the paying public you’re an experienced professional. That’s why I’m so happy to share what’s going on at the New England Wedding Professionals.
Terri Altergott of Something Borrowed, Something New, one of the NEWP leadership team, told me that they just launched their Internship Program for emerging professionals. New wedding pros- planners, photographers, etc- can join as Interns become apprenticed to a current member who offers guidance and support. Interns are associate members who can become full members after completing the program.
What I really like is that you have someone to share those insider secrets like what to pack in your emergency kit and how relate to facilities staff and the like. There’s something so comforting about having your own angel that whispers grow, don’t you think.
So, if you’re in NE and want more information, contact Terri at the NEWP site.
