Friday Find: Making Networking Sweet

I love sweets. I picked up a Bit o’ Honey while I was at the bookstore today, and I’m really looking forward to enjoying it later. Sweets make everything better, don’t you think?

Make Networking Sweeter

Sweets can even make networking easier. I’m thinking of a specifically of bridal shows. Of course, you’ll want to have something great to give the bride. But how about a little sumptin’ sumptin for those other wedding vendors sitting near you. They like treats, too, I bet.

My friend, Dorinda of Favors by Dorinda, makes the whole networking thing ridiculously easy. You can actually have candy wrappers personalized with your company name. Just imagine the wedding planner next to your booth reading your company name then slipping that luscious piece of goodness into her mouth. Think she’ll remember you? Eh, yeah.

Once, when my kids were little, say 7&8, I took them to a business conference with me. I was being honored and wanted them to see the results of working hard and believing in yourself. The kids were impressed enough with my brief speech to give me a standing O (the only ones- so cute), but what really took the experience over the top was visiting the exhibition hall.

Every booth gave them something like a stress-relieving foam ball painted to resemble the world, or CD cases, and plenty of pens. What they loved the most was collecting all that candy. It was like Halloween in August for them and they talked about it for a long while. You could be giving another wedding business owner that same warm, gooey chocolately feeling. And, at a scant $.65 per bar, your plan to meet new referral sources couldn’t get any sweeter!
