Can I say I love this idea? The idea of taking something from your wedding and recycling it to help someone else really thrills me. At my very first wedding eons ago, I couldn’t find one single organization that could help me send those extra reception meals to a shelter. Thankfully, green is the biggest trend in weddings now so it’s all good.
I’m really intrigued by these two sites that promote repurposing: Wedcycle and Club.Wedding-Luv
Wedcyle has a laid-back, wink-n-nod vibe that I really like. They made it fun to recycle wedding stuff. It’s like a huge wedding swap meet. You post the free stuff you have to offer and someone in your area who needs that stuff gets it. You don’t have to feel guilty or cart that extra box of crystal votives around forever. Need vases, centerpieces, shoes or more, sign in by country ( seven in all) and get searching!
You gotta love the imagination of Club Wedding-Luv. I’d describe it as the ultimate wedding giveaway for brides who are watching their budget- and who isn’t these days? Wedding vendors sponsor contests and giveaways ( need a ring pillow?) and brides enter to win. Nice part is that brides can express their satisfaction and gratitude with referrals. Leave it to my friend, Victoria Joanne of HCC Garters to be so brilliant!
So, spend a little time online re-shopping (is that the opposite of re-gifting?) this holiday season.
