I’m feeling like Katie Couric today. Remember how she’d take the Today show on the road? She always looked so perky and willing to try local stuff. Well, taking a feather from her cap, Positively Wed will be going on the road to Savannah, GA!
My son is an amazing artist who wants to be an art director someday. So we looked at art colleges across the country, literally. When he mentioned SCAD I thought why would he want to go see a scab? Doh- it’s Savannah College of Art and Design- SCAD, one of the coolest and highly recognized schools in the country. He loved the school and I fell in love with Savannah.
I adored the squares and architecture which in a way reminded me of Boston. I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly everyone seemed. Store owners actually chat you up sincerely. Imagine that. And, you know I was crazy for the weather. Sleeveless top in October- count me in! My hubby, of course, just thinks I’m crazy to drag him thousands of miles to consider relocating to a place I’ve visited once. Yeah, that’s the way intuition works. Sometimes you just know.
Big comfy bedroom
We’re staying at one week at the Carriage House of Savannah Dream Vacations, which is beautiful and stately. Manderly has been great getting us settled. We’ll also try out downtown by staying at the Hotel Avia. I’m sad we’ll miss First Friday and the river fireworks. If any of the Savannah Wedding Professionals have time, I’d love to chat. Email me and we’ll get together!
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Savannah Jewish Federation, especially Carol and Toby, who have gone out of their way to help us make the most of the visit. They introduced us to Susan Smith of the Savannah Chamber of Commerce which has over 2000 members and Larry Dane-Kellogg who directs the Coastal Jazz Association. (My hubby plays a mean jazz vibraphone!) I already feel welcomed.
