Bride Power for all!

by Dina on September 1, 2009

What superpower would you like to have?   When I was a geeky teenager in love with all things sci fi that was a pretty common question among my friends.  My guy friends wanted x-ray vision, of course.  Pretty lame, but understandable.  Personally, I wanted to be invisible- who doesn’t at 16?

The idea of having a super power is pretty sweet.  Being able to command and change the world around you. Eventually, I got my wish to be super powerful, and I’m willing to share my secret with you so you can sail through wedding planning.  I believe in Bride Power.  What’s that?  Ah, grasshopper allow me to explain.

Getting engaged is magical.  It transports you and your honey to a totally different state of being.   You are now a bride-to-be.  Just like a newborn baby, everyone loves a wedding. (yeah, there are a few curmudgeonly folks who don’t but they’re in the minority).  Getting married is a milestone event and probably will be your happiest day- at least until the aforementioned baby arrives.

People want to be part of your happiness because it enlightens their lives.  Your family, friends, even strangers, want to be involved because they remember their nuptials  or they’re looking forward to their own wedding day.   That, my friends, is power.

I define power simply as the ability to get things done. As a bride you have the power to command.  You want cymbidium orchids.  You got  them.  You want chiavari ballroom chairs for the reception.  No problem.  You want celebrations in your honor.  Bring on the engagement party, bridal shower, bachlorette party and of course the biggest party  of all- your wedding day.

Girl, you got powers!  Question is: are you going to use your superpowers for good or evil.

Will you  use your gift to bring joy and fun to those around you who only want to make you happy or will you be a dreaded Bridezilla?

That’s the first thing people say when I mention I’m a Bridal Coach- ‘Oh, you work with Bridezillas’.   No, actually  I don’t.  I work with wedding vendors who cherish their relationships and want to protect them from the stresses of wedding planning.  But I do have a theory on bridezillas  I’ll share in another post.

Being a bride is such a meaningful time in a woman’s life.  It’s also the perfect time to cultivate joy and happiness in yourself and others.  That’s why I created Positively wed to teach wedding professionals (and sometimes brides)  how to get want you want and deserve responsibly, without drama or hurt feelings.

The way you express yourself and the attitudes you hold can make all the different between saying  when will this be over to I wish this time would never end.   Because if you master wielding your powers now, not only will your wedding go smoothly, so will your life!
